New Alitalia flights will link Venice and Verona to Catania

Alitalia continues to invest in connections between the North and the South of Italy, and is set to introduce new direct flights in August from Venice and Verona to Catania to cater for travellers in Veneto and Sicily. 

The new routes join Alitalia’s flight network of more than 400 weekly connections between the North and South of Italy to reiterate its commitment to domestic air travel.

Direct flights between Venice and Catania will operate four days a week, and the Verona-Catania service three times a week. Passengers will be able to enjoy the newly refurbished cabin interiors of Alitalia’s aircraft as well as earn and redeem miles of the Alitalia MilleMiglia loyalty programme.

The new flights will see Alitalia strengthen its presence in Verona, where the airline operates 25 flights a week to Rome as well as the new weekly flights to Catania.

Alitalia has also increased the number of destinations from Venice where it operates 64 weekly flights to Rome, Catania, Berlin and Abu Dhabi.

The new Venice-Catania service will be operated with Airbus A320 aircraft every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, departing from Venice at 10.20 pm and arriving in Sicily at 00.05 am.  The departure from Catania will be at 10.00 pm, landing in Venice at 11.50 pm.

The Verona-Catania service will operate with Embraer aircraft every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, departing from Verona at 4.25 pm and landing in Catania at 6.15 pm.  The departure from Catania will be at 4.10 pm – Saturday at 5.05 pm – landing in Verona at 6:05 pm and 7.00 pm on Saturday.

Ryanair announces new Bristol route to Venice Marco Polo

Ryanair today announced its route from Bristol to Venice Treviso will move to Venice Marco Polo from September.

This is in addition to the new route to Bucharest and 2 new winter services to Krakow and Milan announced earlier.

This Bristol to Venice Macro Polo route is ideal for both business and leisure customers, who can now choose from 19 Bristol routes in winter 2016.

Ryanair’s Head of Communications, Robin Kiely said:

“We are pleased to move our Bristol to Venice Treviso route to Venice Marco Polo, which will operate 3 times weekly, as part of our significantly expanded winter 2016 schedule, which also includes a new route to Bucharest and 2 new winter services to Krakow and Milan Bergamo, and we look forward to continuing to grow routes, traffic and jobs in Bristol.”

Etihad Regional launches flights from Paderborn-Lippstadt Airport to Venice

Etihad Regional will start connecting Paderborn-Lippstadt Airport with Venice from July 2016 onwards.

As a result, for the first time there will be a direct flight from PAD to the Italian lagoon city. The new service is also attractive for cruise passengers, as Venice is the starting point for many cruises to the Mediterranean Sea and South Africa.

Venice is the first Italian destination for Paderborn-Lippstadt. “We are really delighted for Etihad Regional operated by Darwin Airline to be the new airline for this project. Cruise companies and tour operators have recognised the enormous potential in our region. The service to Venice is an attractive extension to our range of flights and opens up opportunities for the booming cruise market,” said Airport CEO, Dr Marc Cezanne, at the contract signing ceremony on the sidelines of the ITB.

Maurizio Merlo, Etihad Regional’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are delighted to begin operation on our PAD-Venice route, increasing our network offering in Europe, and connecting Paderborn-Lippstadt with Venice, a key touristic destination as well as starting point for exciting Cruise destinations in the Mediterranean and beyond”.

Flights will take off for Venice every Saturday at 12.35 pm from 9 July 2016 onwards. The Paderborn-Lippstadt return flight leaves Venice at 10.15 am. Etihad Regional will operate the route with its Saab 2000 aircraft with 50 seats. The services will be operated under flight numbers F71291 and F71290.

Ukraine International Airlines launches services to Venice

Ukraine International Airlines has operated the first non-stop scheduled flight connecting Kiev with Venice.

The new triple-weekly PS335/336 Kiev – Venice – Kiev flights are operated on Boeing 737 aircraft with two cabin classes – Business Class and Economy Class.

Therefore, within the period of Summer 2016 Schedule UIA will offer passengers vast travel opportunities in Italy by operating non-stop scheduled flights from Kiev to Rome, Milan, and Venice, as well as from Lvov to Bologna.

Nouvelair launches flights from Tunisia to Nice (France)

Nouvelair has launched new flights linking Tunisia with Nice, its ninth destination in France.

From 1 April, the airline will start operating five weekly flight to Nice; 3 weekly flights will be operated from Tunis-Carthage, a weekly flight from Monastir, and a weekly flight from Djerba.

Nouvelair was founded in 1989. Nouvelair, Tunisia’s leading airline, is one of the foremost companies in Tunisian Travel Services, the leading Tunisian travel group. Airline operates from more than 130 European airports across more than 30 countries, including France, Germany, Poland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Netherlands, Belgium and Russia.

In Tunisia, Nouvelair operates at 4 airports: Monastir, Djerba, Enfidha and Tunis. Nouvelair fly to Europe’s major airports, such as Paris Charles de Gaulle and Lyon in France, or Düsseldorf in Germany. Airline also operates to Scandinavia, with airports in Göteborg-Landvetter, Stockholm-Arlanda, Copenhagen, Billund, Oslo-Gardermoen and Russia with departures from Moscow and St Petersburg.

Nordic Aviation Group to launch new services to Nice and Split

Nordic Aviation in cooperation with Adria Airways will begin operating direct flights to Nice and Split in the coming summer season.

Flights to Nice will take place on Saturdays from 16 April to 29 October, and on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 21 June to 30 August. Flights to Split will take place once a week on Sundays from 17 April to 23 October and twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays from 22 June to 31 August.

More detailed summer schedule with additional lines will be announced at the end of the month.

Split is the oldest and largest city on Croatia’s Adriatic coast and has been a popular tourist destination among Estonians for years due to its climate and cultural heritage. Nice is a popular French Riviera resort on the Mediterranean Sea where visitors can enjoy luxury, culture and relaxation on the beach.

Nordic Aviation Group was founded by the decision of the Government of the Republic of Estonia on September 25, 2015 in order to provide Estonia with flight connections after the demise of Estonian Air. The company is one hundred percent owned by the Estonian state. 

 

Czech Airlines to offer connections to Billund, Bologna, Helsinki, Venice and more flights to Rome and Russia

Czech Airlines will now operate regular scheduled flights to Billund, Bologna and Venice as well as to Nice and Almaty.

Flights to Yerevan will be reintroduced while, towards the end of the winter season, Czech Airlines will relaunch its own operation on the Helsinki route. Czech Airlines also plans to increase the number of its weekly flights to Rome and Bratislava and add one frequency a week on its routes to Rostov on Done, Samara, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg.

Additionally, Czech Airlines will add a Beijing route on its winter schedule thanks to its co-operation with Hainan Airlines. In the 2015/2016 winter schedule, Czech Airlines will operate regular scheduled flights together with its partners to more than 80 destinations in 40 countries. Czech Airlines’ winter timetable comes into effect on 25 October 2015 and terminates on 26 March 2016. 

Compared to last winter season, Czech Airlines will expand its offer of regular scheduled connections by seven destinations this year. New additions to Czech Airlines’ winter timetable are: regular scheduled flights to Billund (4 times a week), Bologna (4 times a week and, effective March, up to 7 times weekly) and Venice (3 times a week and, effective March, up to 5 times weekly) – destinations added or reintroduced to Czech Airlines’ schedule this summer season.

“We originally planned to operate Billund year round, but Venice was originally planned as our seasonal destination. The interest in the routes positively surprised us. Therefore, we have decided to launch year-round operations on the routes. We will add three more frequencies a week on the Bologna route with effect from the beginning of March 2016, thus offering the connection on a daily basis,” Ján Tóth, Czech Airlines Director for Commerce and Marketing, said. The seasonal connection to Nice will also see some changes. This year, for the first time, Czech Airlines’ Nice connection will be operated year round, with two return flights a week.

Helsinki Route Relaunch

At the end of the winter schedule, at the beginning of March 2016, Czech Airlines is relaunching operations on the Helsinki route, after a five-year break. At the beginning, the route will be serviced 4 times a week with departures from Prague on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at noon, returning from Helsinki at 5:15 p.m., with the flights operated by Airbus A319. Czech Airlines is planning to operate the route in the 2016 summer season too, with up to a daily service.

Czech Airlines’ Winter Schedule in Slovakia

In the 2015/2016 winter schedule, Czech Airlines will enhance its oldest regular scheduled connection, the Prague – Bratislava – Košice return service, by two weekly frequencies, departing Prague on Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon. Effective this November, Czech Airlines will offer a daily connection on the route on workdays, with two connections a day on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays – featuring morning and evening flights.

Seoul Remains on Schedule, Beijing is Added

Another addition to Czech Airlines’ winter schedule is a regular connection between Prague and Beijing, offered by Czech Airlines on a code-share basis with Hainan Airlines. Czech Airlines’ has its unique OK code for the flights and, thanks to its co-operation with Hainan Airlines, is also able to offer its passengers connecting flights to 12 destinations in China, such as Shanghai, Guangzhou, Harbin, Chongqing, Chengdu, Xiamen, Shenzhen and many more important cities and tourist resorts.

Czech Airlines’ winter 2015/2016 schedule also features the Prague – Seoul regular scheduled connection previously offered, popular primarily with tourists from destinations in South America and operated by the OK-YBA Airbus A330. Czech Airlines will offer eight frequencies a week on the route in co-operation with Korean Air, four operated by Czech Airlines and four by Korean Air.

More Flights to Russia and Relaunch of Yerevan Route

“We have witnessed signs of stabilization and consolidation in the Russian market and a cautious change of demand trends for travel to the Czech Republic which we wish to explore. Therefore, we have decided to add one return frequency on our Prague – St. Petersburg, Prague – Yekaterinburg, Prague – Rostov on Done and Prague – Samara routes, effective the start of the winter 2015/2016 schedule,” Ján Tóth explained.

Czech Airlines will also offer a series of flights to Almaty during the Christmas and New Year’s Eve festivities, unlike last year when the route to the Kazakhstan metropolis was not operated during the period. The Almaty route will remain a seasonally-operated destination.

Effective 13 December 2015, Czech Airlines plans to relaunch its connection between Prague and Yerevan, with a seasonal mode of operations for the time being, and three weekly return frequencies during the traditional Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations, the last to be on 21 January.

Delta returns New York to Nice service from March 2015

Delta will once again be offering nonstop daily flights between Nice’s Cote d’Azur Airport and New York John F. Kennedy International Airport for the 2015 summer season.

Flights will begin five times a week on March 29, 2015, increasing to a daily service from May 2, 2015.  Delta has scheduled a Boeing 767-400 aircraft with 245 seats on the route, which is operated in conjunction with joint venture partner Air France-KLM. From New York-JFK, customers can conveniently connect to more than 60 destinations, including San Francisco, Miami, Las Vegas and Seattle.

“At nine percent of global visitors, data from the Riviera Tourism Board reports that the U.S. is the second largest source market for guests to the region,” said Perry Cantarutti, Delta’s senior vice president for Europe, Middle East and Africa. “Delta is proud to continue to support the local economy with the return of our flights next summer.”

The Riviera Tourism Board also reports that 58 percent of U.S. visitors travel for a holiday, with 20 percent in the area for business. The average length of stay for visitors traveling by air is seven days.
